Police investigating child assault at Carmarthenshire nursery

Dyfed-Powys Police are investigating an alleged assault on a child by a member of staff at a nursery in Carmarthenshire.

Officers have confirmed they are investigating at Cylch Meithrin Cefneithin a Gorslas in the Gwendraeth Valley.

The preschool was closed suddenly around eight weeks ago, leaving more than 40 children without a nursery.

Commenting on the investigation, a Police spokeswoman said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm it is investigating an allegation of assault on a child by a member of staff at the Cylch Meithrin Cefneithin a Gorslas.

“Police are working closely with members of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales to investigate the allegation.

“The safety, welfare and protection of vulnerable children is an absolute priority of all the organisations’ involved.”
