Foster Care Scheme Moving North
A foster care scheme started in Glasgow nine years ago by children’s charity NCH is to be run in the Highlands. Foster Care NCH was launched in response to a call for family-based services for children with challenging behaviour. The service is now looking for carers in the Highlands. One of the features of the service is that foster carers are paid the equivalent of a full-time salary and given professional status.
Foster Care NCH also provides 24-hour support to carers.
Ann Darlington, assistant director of children’s services for NCH in Inverness, said it would prevent children having to move too far from their local communities.
Foster Care NCH is holding an open information session at its Inverness office on 7 September.
