The Croft Care Home In Runcorn To Close

A care home providing respite breaks for adults with learning difficulties is to close – because health chiefs say it is too expensive to renovate.

The Croft in Runcorn, failed an inspection by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) in January.

Registration was witheld because of concerns about the design and size of the building in Main Street, Halton Village.

Rebecca Burke-Sharples, chief executive of Halton and St Helens Primary Care Trust, said: “As an organisatiion, we have a commitment to ensure the facilities we provide are of the highest quality and meet the needs of our patient, clients and carers.

“Now that we have been made aware that CSCI does not consider The Croft to be the highest quality, priority must be given to exploring with our local authority colleagues other options available.”

The PCT has pledged to continue consulting families, carers and staff after announcing the PCT board decision to close The Croft within nine months.
