CWDC Business Plan Sets Out Plans For The Future

The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has announced the publication of its 2007-08 Business Plan after extensive consultation with employers, the children’s workforce, its Board and children, young people and families.

The Business Plan sets out this year’s programme of work including training for Early Years Professional Status, the development of the Integrated Qualifications Framework and preparation of the Sector Skills Agreement.

The Plan, agreed with the DfES, sets out how the CWDC will fulfil its dual role as a workforce reform organisation and a Sector Skills Body. It builds on 06/07 achievements and identifies the projects the workforce can expect to see over the coming months.

Jane Haywood, Chief Executive of CWDC comments: “We believe that this Business Plan sets out a challenging workforce reform agenda. Through close communication with the workforce and our key partners we have already achieved a great deal in a relatively short period of time. We will be working hard to build on early successes in order to continue to raise the level of skills and status of the sector.

“This year’s funding has increased to £70m which we will invest in building capacity and ensuring that the workforce can make a real impact on the lives of children, young people and families.”
