NISCC is responsible for regulating standards of social work and post-qualifying social work education and training in Northern Ireland .

These functions transferred to NISCC from the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW) in October 2001. Until NISCC Quality Assurance standards are finalised, course providers and students will be assessed against the CCETSW Quality Assurance requirements.
