Social Worker in Community Care Adult Services
East Neighbourhood Locality Office (North East)
Salary: £36,312 – £42,717 per year (pro rata for full-time)
Hours: 36 hour and 32 hour positions available
Please state on your application if you wish for a part-time or full-time position.
The Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership (EHSCP) is on a journey to transform the way in which Social Work delivers support and services, enabling people to live as independently as possible but also have appropriate support in place when required. The EHSCP and NHS Lothian have integrated the planning and delivery of all community health and social care services for adults and older people, along with homelessness, mental health, and disability services. We also work closely with many charities, the third sector and independent health and social care contractors and providers.
We are looking for social workers who are enthusiastic, imaginative, creative, and resilient to join our Responder Team within the North East of Edinburgh. Trauma informed, relationships and strengths based Social Work is at the heart of our practice. We use the Three Conversations approach to understand what really matters to people and families, what are their goals, and what needs to happen next to achieve this. We also have the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013 at the heart of our practice, to provide a range of choices to people for how support is provided. You will work in a supportive, well-established team and have regular training opportunities and supervision.
The roles will involve short term duty work, longer term case management, and a range of statutory tasks including assessments, support planning, risk assessment and management, prevention of admission and hospital discharge. Please see the attached person specification and job description for further information. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will support adults, their families and carers, to balance the complex areas of risk and need with choice and rights. You will also be able to provide advice, support, guidance and, if necessary, interventions, should an adult be at risk of harm and in need of protection under the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 or Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000. Please see the attached person specification and job description for further information.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
We’re committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council
