Inclusion: Quarriers launch an innovative new participation toolkit

Quarriers has recently launched an innovative new participation toolkit, the iFive, at Hampden Park Football Stadium in Glasgow.

The iFive has been developed alongside staff and people who access their services and enables service users and staff to identify, categorise and reflect on how Inclusion is progressing within an individual service and helps people they support to become more involved with their service.

Heather Kay, Children and Families Inclusion Worker at Quarriers said: “The iFive toolkit has been trialled with children, families and staff in Quarriers’ services. While working on and preparing the materials, I found phenomenal examples of participatory practice in Quarriers.  Some staff, however, found it hard to evidence this.

“The iFive Framework is a toolkit which offers clear signposting and invites staff to collect real life examples of participation in practice. This focuses on five key areas: the type of information they provide; the way they solicit feedback; the engagement of service users in their care; the partnership approach provided; and placing final decision making in the hands of service users.”

Helen Hunter, Head of Change and Innovation at Quarriers said, “Quarriers has been working hard to ensure that our commitment to an inclusive culture and person-centred approaches across the organisation continues. The launch of the iFive toolkit helps us spread the word and work alongside other organisations on this journey.”

The toolkit is now available online here.
