Toolkit – Youth Social Action in Health and Social Care

A new Volunteering Matters toolkit to help care sector employers tap into the potential of young people has been launched by Alistair Burt, Minister of State for Community and Social Care.

The toolkit takes an inclusive and broad approach to social action and volunteering – including both formal and informal opportunities for young people to engage within health and care settings and wider activity that is often described as social action.

Launching the toolkit, Mr Burt said: “In celebration of the outstanding contribution members of the British public make to society, I am launching a toolkit to help health and care providers bring alive the often untapped skills and potential of today’s young people.

“I believe the innovation and enthusiasm of young people, particularly through their social action and volunteering activities in the health and care sector, can help to contribute to the better design of public services and help to nurture a sense of shared social responsibility which is fundamental to building stronger and more capable communities.”
