Applications closing on PQ Reminiscence module for NI social workers

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council ( NISCC) has published details of a specialist award module entitled ‘Reminiscence, Life Story Work and Life Review: Narrative methods, theory and application across the life cycle’.

This post qualifying module is designed for qualified social workers and staff in a variety of work settings, including community, residential, domiciliary and day care services for adults; children’s services; probation and after-care service; criminal justice; hospices and hospitals.

The course will be taught in two three-day blocks – 7 – 9 October 2015 and 14 – 16 October 2015, with three seminars on the afternoons of 6 November 2015, 11 December 2015 and 3 March 2016. The venue for the course in NISCC, 7th Floor, Millennium House, Great Victoria St., Belfast.

Candidates should hold a professional social work qualification and be registered with NISCC, and have enrolled with the NISCC Professional in Practice (PiP) framework for professional credits. Candidates not holding a 2:2 Hons Degree or higher will be asked to undertake a 2000 word assignment to demonstrate capability of study at Masters Degree level.

Candidates will be required to select and demonstrate competence in two of the following PiP Specialist requirements: Specialist Awards PQ 1, PQ 2, PQ 5 and PQ 6. The cost of this course is £670 for those registering with the Ulster University for 30 credit points within the Social Work Specialist Award.
