SSSC produce new mentoring resources to support professional development

Social service organisations across Scotland are increasingly using coaching and mentoring as a means of supporting professional learning and development, particularly for leadership and management development.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have recently produced a range of mentoring and coaching resources together with links to action learning developments and a leadership exchange programme.  The resources include a general mentoring guide, which can be used by employers, managers and staff who work in social services to develop and support mentoring in the workplace.  The document explains what mentoring is, and contains information on developing a mentoring policy and how to implement a mentoring programme.

Within the coaching page are resources and tools to help you understand coaching and how it can support workforce learning and development.

You can also find web based resources and examples from practice which can be adapted to the structure and needs of your organisation.  Additionally, a communities of practice link helps you to connect with others to reflect on your leadership learning, share ideas, knowledge and resources and feel supported in your leadership journey.
