SSSC issue new learning tools for workers in dementia

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have produced a new set of learning tools to support services and organisations to embed the Standards of Care for Dementia in Scotland (2011).

‘Promoting Excellence’ defines four levels of knowledge and skills which will help you identify learning needs and plan appropriate learning activities.

It can help you to work better with people with dementia, their families and carers.

At its heart is a learning framework, which details specific knowledge and skills that you should aim to achieve if you work in any social care, social work or health environment.

Promoting Excellence will support services and organisations to embed the Standards of Care for Dementia in Scotland (2011). These standards, which we should all strive to embed in our workplaces and the services we offer, are underpinned by the Charter of Rights for People with Dementia and their Carers in Scotland (2009).

Importantly, they are also informed by what people with dementia and their carers in Scotland have identified as being important to them, and what they want from services.

The Promoting Excellence learning framework and free learning resources are available at: www.sssc.uk.com/promotingexcellence
