{mosimage}Nakita Williams had to walk more than two miles from Cardiff Bay, to Headlands School in Penarth, after she was refused a lift by a learning support assistant in charge of a group of pupils visiting the city’s ice-rink.
Nakita, from Cefn Hengoed, Hengoed, walked for 45 minutes, starting out along one of the capital’s busiest roads Cogan Spur, up to Penarth Marina.
She took a shortcut through a wooded area by the Billy Banks flats where she said some youths were drinking alcohol and then onto Paget Terrace before arriving at the school on Paget Place.
Her mum Mandy said she is so upset she feels sick when she thinks about what could have happened.
Nikita said she was ordered out of the car after taking off her seatbelt as a joke. The learning assistant then drove off with the other three pupils leaving Nikita, who has severe learning and behavioural difficulties, alone.
“I walked along the path up to the marina, then into the woods by the Billy Banks and back to school.” she said. “It was lonely. When I got back the lady saw me and said, well you made it back safely then? They knew I had walked but they did not do anything. I feel sad that it happened.”
