Care Council for Wales to host focus groups on health and social care qualifications

The Care Council for Wales are inviting you to have your say on the new qualifications for health and social care and get involved with reviewing the Social Care Induction Framework (SCIF).

The Care Council is hosting a series of focus groups in November and December to review the SCIF, as well as the core content for a new set of qualifications being developed for health and social care.

The SCIF, which has been available since 2001, is reviewed every four years. The new qualifications, meanwhile, are being developed in response to a report published by Qualifications Wales in July, which highlighted a number of concerns around health and social care qualifications in Wales.

The eight focus groups will be taking place across Wales on the following dates:

  • 14 November in Newtown
  • 15 November in Wrexham
  • 16 November in Bangor
  • 24 November in Margam Park
  • 25 November in Carmarthen
  • 13 December in Cardiff
  • 14 December in Newport
  • 15 December in Mountain Ash

If you’re interested in taking part, you can register your interest before 28 October 2016. A confirmation e-mail will be sent on 2 November if you’ve been successful.

The Workforce Education Development Service for NHS Wales is also arranging focus groups to feedback on the new qualifications. The dates have yet to be confirmed, but they will be published shortly.
