Campaign will highlight standards public can expect from Welsh care workers

A high-profile campaign to ensure the public knows exactly what standards they can expect from social care workers in Wales has been launched.

The ‘Our Code is Not a Secret’ campaign encourages members of the public to visit the Care Council for Wales website and take a look at the Code of Professional Practice for Social Care so that they know exactly what principles the workforce has agreed to apply to their everyday work.

Anyone who receives care or support, as well as their family members and friends, is encouraged to take a look at the Code and the series of rules social care workers are expected to adhere to.

The Code states that social care workers will, among other things, respect your views and put your needs first, gain your trust and confidence, help you be safe and healthy, respect your rights while keeping you and others safe, be honest with you, and make sure they have the knowledge and skills to do their job well.

The campaign follows on from the Caring with Pride campaign which continues to target the workforce, encouraging them to embrace and raise awareness of the Code by completing an online test and achieving a Caring with Pride certificate.

The adverts will be visible on a variety of buses will be broadcast on the radio from mid-March.
