Draft guidance for Residential Child Care Workers in Wales

The Care Council for Wales (CCW) have announced draft practice guidance for residential child care workers.

The Residential Child Care Worker builds on the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers and aims to describe what is expected of workers. It is intended as a practical tool, aiding workers in their practice and contributing to good outcomes for children and young people. It provides the basis on which more detailed guidance can be developed in the future.

This practice guidance for residential child care workers is the third to be developed by the CCW. Practice guidance for social care managers was published in June 2013 and for social workers in March 2014.

The Care Council is inviting comments on The Residential Child Care Worker.

Comments can be submitted online or by post, using the consultation questions or in another format if preferred. For more information about the consultation contact Sheila Lyons, Workforce Development Manager, e-mail [email protected] or telephone 01745 586864.

The online questions as well as an online copy of the document can be found at: http://www.ccwales.org.uk/consultations/

The consultation closes on Friday 5 December 2014 and it is anticipated the final version of The Residential Child Care Worker will be available by the end of March 2015.
