Countdown to Wales’ largest Social Services conference

The National Social Services Conference 2014 – It’s about me, People at the centre of care will take place on June 26 and 27 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

This year’s focus is People at the centre of care, and the conference promises to be bigger and better than the memorable and successful 2013 event. The conference is about well-being and maximising potential, co-production, understanding and working with people’s realities, including the importance of language. It is a place to contribute and learn together, for people who use services to share experiences and ideas, an opportunity for constructive challenge and inspiration.

This high-level annual event is the largest and most influential meeting of social care leaders and decision makers within Wales. It is widely recognised as being the most important event of its kind for councillors, directors, senior officers, policymakers and service managers with responsibilities for children’s services and adult social care in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.

Ministers and Welsh Government leaders will set out their picture for the future of social care within Wales. Key figures will share important and inspirational experiences to help guide the development of social care across Wales.

A wide range of workshops and speakers will equip delegates with practical and usable tools, skills and ideas, including a workshop on ‘Technology to Care’ by representatives from the Care Council and Gwynedd County Council. The workshop focusses on the vision that individuals will be supported by a confident, knowledgeable and skilled social care workforce, working creatively with Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) to support their well-being, choice and independence.

The event will be hosted by the ADSS Cymru, WLGA, Welsh Government, Care Council for Wales and CSSIW at Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on 26 – 27 June 2014.
