Welsh sector to celebrate social care week

Today is the first day of Social Care Week 2014, an opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness of the 88,000 practitioners working in social care and childcare in Wales.

Throughout the week, the Care Council for Wales and partner organisations will acknowledge workforce achievements and good practice on Twitter and Facebook using the Hashtag #WalesCare2014.

Each day carries a different theme to celebrate all work areas. To coincide with its awareness raising theme, the first day features posts about various services, providers and users. On Tuesday, the achievements of the workforce will be recognised.

Focus will be on social care and childcare as a career of choice on Wednesday. At the Pierhead, the Deputy Minister for Social Services will host a reception for Care Ambassadors. Another highlight of the week is the launch of a Safeguarding app, available to download on mobile devices from Thursday.

Daily news items will outline each day’s activities and the people of Wales will be encouraged to share their positive stories and experiences during the week.

You can join the conversation using #WalesCare2014.
