Deeside College wins national care award

A COLLEGE tutor has picked up an award for being the best in Wales. Anita Curley, a tutor at Coleg Llysfasi in Ruthin, part of Deeside College, was presented with a gold award in the annual Wales Care Awards 2010.

She was presented with the prize for her services to training under the category of Commitment to Training and Workforce Development.

Anita has worked at Coleg Llysfasi for four years as a health and social care tutor, internal verifier and assessor.

Catherine Rowell, head of services to people and the community at Coleg Llysfasi, said: “Anita is instrumental in developing new courses built around the new initiatives and guidelines as they become known.

“Her experience is invaluable, from which both the team and learners benefit.

“Anita is well deserving of her award and the team and other colleagues are all very proud of her.”

Anita added: “I am so pleased to have received this award.

“Over the years I have had the privilege to be part of various teams.

“This achievement also recognises their commitment to ensuring learners have the knowledge and skills to promote quality individual care.”
