Child Rescue Alert To Spread Out

A scheme to transmit television appeals for missing children is to be extended across Wales in the near future, it emerged yesterday. The Child Rescue Alert programme was launched by North Wales Police yesterday. Its use is being examined by all police forces in England and Wales.

The scheme will allow police to issue regular bulletins on television and radio to appeal to the public for information about missing children they fear are at risk of serious harm.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said, “Child Rescue Alert is also about to be implemented by South Wales Police. Discussions with media partners have been ongoing and much work has been done to ensure officers are familiar with the stringent processes for launching the alert.”
