Teenage Girl Sexually Assaulted

Police have launched an investigation after a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl. The 15-year-old girl was attacked by a man on a footpath next to a railway line in Trelewis, Merthyr Tydfil. Police said the attack took place between 2230 GMT on Friday and 0030 GMT on Saturday.

The attacker is described as just under 6ft tall (1.83m) of medium build and was wearing dark trousers. South Wales Police has appealed for witnesses.

Officers want to hear from anyone in the area at the time, in particular the woman driver of a green Ford Escort who may have seen the victim in a distressed state near the Ffaldcaiach public house.
