Care Council For Wales – Is It Your Time To Shine?

The Social Care Accolades 2007 have been announced by Mutale Nyoni, Chair of the Care Council for Wales. Following the huge success of the Social Care Accolades in 2005 work is underway for the next event in 2007. The Accolades are awards offered every other year to recognise and celebrate good practice in learning and development in social care throughout Wales.

There will be eight categories for the Accolades and they will be awarded to teams, groups or organisations who can demonstrate how learning and development has resulted in improved outcomes for service users and carers across Wales.

Announcing the Accolades, Mutale said, “This is only the second time we have offered the Social Care Accolades and after the success of last year’s inaugural event, we’re looking forward to following it up with even more entries and some tough competition over the coming months!

“The Accolades are a much needed opportunity to share good practice and showcase the excellent work done by the sector throughout Wales every day and a chance to celebrate this on a national platform. Social care organisations all over Wales will have invested in learning and development as a way of making sure they deliver quality care. This is your chance to shine and have your work recognised.”

The Minister for Health and Social Services, Dr Brian Gibbons AM said, “The first Social Care Accolades held in 2005 provided an opportunity to raise the profile of social care and to acknowledge the good practice that is taking place across Wales. I am pleased that we have an opportunity to build on the success of the 2005 Accolades in 2007 and I hope that all organisations working in this field will consider taking part.”

The Social Care Accolades are open to teams, groups and organisations throughout the social care sector in Wales. The closing date for entries is 1 March 2007, and the gala award ceremony will be held at Cardiff City Hall on 21 June 2007.
