Inspectorate in name change and update to website & social media channels

From today, the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) will be known as Care Inspectorate Wales or CIW.

From now on, if you see the name ‘Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales’ or ‘CSSIW’, this should be read as ‘Care Inspectorate Wales’ or ‘CIW’.

Providers are advised that their registration will not be affected by the change of name.

CIW also say that if care providers or partners have any paperwork or documentation with CSSIW written on it, it will continue to be valid, but they will be updating their forms and guidance to include the new name in the coming weeks.

Previously published documents such as inspection reports will not be changed and will retain the CSSIW branding.

Last year, Chief Inspector Gillian Baranski announced at the Association of Directors of Social Services (ADSS) Cymru conference that we would be changing our name to Care Inspectorate Wales.

CIW say this simplification aims to reflect the modern face of the inspectorate in Wales and has been discussed with staff and stakeholders.
