Community Care Providers Scotland conference details

The Community Care Providers Scotland (CCPS) conference will take place this year at the Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro Hotel from 26-27 November 2014.

The theme this year is based on the new approach to public services in Scotland, with an emphasis on collaboration and partnership as the key to better outcomes.

The conference will examine the range of reforms both planned and under way, considering them from the perspective of their potential to refresh and redefine relationships for third sector providers both with commissioners and with the people they support. Speakers will include:

  • Dr Henry Kippin, Executive Director, Collaborate;
  • Sarah Davidson, Director-General Communities, Scottish Government;
  • Dr Sally Witcher OBE, Chief Executive, Inclusion Scotland;
  • Harry Stevenson, President, Social Work Scotland;
  • Angela Leitch, Chief Executive, East Lothian Council and Vice Chair, SOLACE Scotland;
  • Iain Macwhirter, Journalist and political broadcaster;
  • Martyn Evans, Chief Executive, Carnegie UK Trust
  • Robert Crawford CBE, Chair of the Economic Development Association;
  • Jo Armstrong, Honorary Professor of Public Policy at Glasgow University and Chair of Enable;
  • James Mitchell, Member of Christie Commission and Co-Director of Academy of Government, Edinburgh University; and
  • Andrew van Doorn, Deputy Chief Executive of HACT (Housing Associations Charitable Trust).

Sessions will include topics such as Public Social Partnerships; alternative funding models; workforce engagement; changing relationships in joint strategic commissioning; working with Third Sector Interfaces and learning from the early implementation of Self-directed Support.

Debating these and a range of other issues will be Peter Macleod, Co-chair of the National Steering Group on Joint Strategic Commissioning; Tony Homer, Joint Improvement Team National Lead for Joint Strategic Commissioning; Christina Naismith, Joint Improvement Team Programme Manager for Joint Strategic Commissioning; Des McCart, Joint Improvement Team National Co-ordinator-SDS & Commissioning; Fiona Duncan, Deputy Chief Executive, Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland; Alan Baird, Chief Social Work Advisor to the Scottish Government, as well as the leaders of Scotland’s most substantial third sector care and support providers.
