East Kilbride care home served with improvement notice

A care home for older people in South Lanarkshire has been warned it must make significant improvements after it was served with a formal improvement notice by Scotland’s social care regulator.

Seven areas of concern were listed by inspectors from the Care Inspectorate following an inspection at Acorn Park Care Home in East Kilbride.

The service must now demonstrate “significant improvement,” or face the cancellation of its registration.

A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate said: “Our inspection raised seven areas of significant concern.

“These were around the administration of medicine; nutrition and hydration; personal plans for service users; infection control; environmental safety; recruitment and fitness of employees; and staffing.”

In a statement, a spokesperson for the home said: “We are working hard with the Care Inspectorate to meet their requirements within the timescales set.”

The home caters for 38, mainly elderly, residents.
