Aberdeen nurse loses job in picture scandal

A hospital worker has lost his job after allegedly posing for pictures wearing a patient’s underwear.

James John Turner was suspended by NHS Grampian while the health board investigated the incident in a geriatric ward at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The 21-year-old nursing auxiliary has now had his employment terminated and police are investigating the situation.

The health board investigation is said to have started when an official complaint was made last Wednesday.

A statement released by NHS Grampian today said: “NHS Grampian has concluded its internal investigation and as a result Mr Turner’s employment has been terminated with immediate effect.

“We are aware that Police Scotland are making their own inquiries.”

A police spokeswoman said the force is aware of the allegation.

She added: “We are at the early stages of our inquiry to establish whether any criminality has occurred.”
