Newton Stewart respite unit receives glowing inspection

A respite unit in Dumfries and Galloway has been praised by Scotland’s social care watchdog after it received top grades at two consecutive inspections.

Station Brae Respite Unit in Newton Stewart received grades of ‘6 – excellent’ across the board after an unannounced inspection completed in March.

A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate said: “This is a specialised service where high standards have been maintained.

“Service users and their relatives confirm their satisfaction with the quality of care and support they receive and the very positive outcomes that they experience.

“Everyone in Scotland has the right to good quality, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights.

“The vast majority of care services in Scotland perform well, and where we encounter excellent services, it is vital we share good practice so that all care services in Scotland continue to improve and reach the high standards we expect.

“Anyone with a concern about a service can contact our helpline on 0845 600 9527, anonymously if needed, and all information given to us helps us plan our inspections.”
