Top ratings for care and adoption services in Edinburgh

FOSTER care and adoption services in the Capital have been hailed after inspectors awarded the city council its highest ratings yet.

The Care Inspectorate (Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland) inspection took place over the course of three days last summer, and saw work examined in every area of the service.

Strengths highlighted by the report included praise for highly-motivated staff who provided a “very good” service supporting foster carers.

Councillor Paul Godzik, the city’s education leader, said: “This is an outstanding result for our foster care and adoption teams, and the huge effort they put into delivering this vital service. They are not only trailblazing in Scotland, but the UK also.”
