Changes to home care under discussion in Forres

AN information event to explain more about proposals for changes to Home Care Services in Moray, is taking place at Forres House Community Centre next Monday (January 16).

The event -one of several taking place across Moray – aims to encourage people to feedback their views, about plans for enablement. People already attending many of the current day services have been invited to attend a meeting.

Home care services in Moray are being enhanced to maximise the long-term independence and quality of life of people with social care needs. The benefits of taking a reablement approach will be highlighted at the event which is taking place between 1pm and 3pm at the Green Room at the community centre.

Service manager Charles McKerron will highlight the opportunities reablement provides to work with people to develop the skills needed to remain safely in their own home. Reablement is short-term support designed to give older people or people with disabilities the confidence to manage as many daily living tasks as possible on their own.

Consultation response forms will also be available at the event and can be accessed via the Moray Council website. The consultation period ends on Friday, February 3.

Feedback will help inform the recommendation for the new reablement policy, setting out eligibility and the processes which staff will follow, which will be considered at a meeting of Moray Council’s health and social care services committee on February 22.
