Drug group in spending cuts warning

The number of people with drug problems in Scotland could rise as a result of the impact of spending cuts on vulnerable communities, a campaign group has warned.

The Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) said that a combination of factors could create conditions where more people susceptible to developing drug problems may go on to become users.

Reduced job opportunities, cuts in welfare benefits and changes to social care services will also seriously affect the lives of people already living with drug problems, the body said in its annual report.
