Plans to build £5m Larbert care hub unveiled

Plans to build a £5m care home, training and management hub in Larbert, near Falkirk, have been lodged. Avondale Care Scotland Ltd said the proposals included a 60-bed nursing home and headquarters for the firm.

The company said that if given the go-ahead the development at Glenbervie Business Park would create 120 permanent jobs in the area.

The plans also include a new centre of excellence, providing training for both care home staff and community workers.

The facility would also serve as the headquarters of Avondale, who currently operate other care homes, including Lister House for people with dementia in Fife.

The company said that subject to planning approval, the facility could be operational by October 2011.

Director Alan Hendry said: “This proposal would create a much-needed centre of excellence for training and instruction, with a fully operational care home with nursing alongside where staff from Avondale and elsewhere would be able to see best practice in action.”
