Sacked social worker struck off

A social worker in Aberdeen has been struck off the register after a hearing into accusations she mishandled cases involving vulnerable children.

Heather Clark had already lost her job with Aberdeen City Council in March this year.

The 51-year-old was accused of 24 “failures” concerning several Aberdeen families.

A three-day hearing took place at the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)in Dundee.

Geraldine Doherty, SSSC deputy chief executive, said: “It is imperative that registered workers practise safely and competently, maintain proper standards of conduct and abide by the SSSC code of practice for social service workers.

“The majority of registered social services workers do a very good job often under difficult circumstances.

“Where, as in this case, the SSSC finds that there has been misconduct it will take action to protect the public, safeguard standards in the profession, and maintain public confidence in social service workers.”
