College holds employment fair for carers

AN employment fair offering advice and information on careers in the care industry is being held at the end of the month.

West Lothian College is hosting the fifth annual care careers fair to help people find out about employment in the health, social care or childcare sector.

Representatives from five universities will be on hand to give information about courses, as well as local employers and careers advisors.

Gill Crockford, careers adviser at Careers Scotland, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for people who want to work in the care sector.

“The present economic climate means that these events are more important now than ever before.

“That’s why careers advisers, employers and staff from universities will all be on hand to make sure that people who come along get all the information they need to make the right career choices.”

West Lothian College principal, Mhairi Laughlin, said: “Our previous fairs have been hugely successful with a very good turn out and we hope that this year will be no exception.” The careers fair takes place on April 28.
