Aberdeenshire Care Home Charges In Spotlight

Councillors could raise the price of care home services. Aberdeenshire Council will hold a meeting to discuss soaring costs.

The council said rising energy and staffing costs, as well as the need to provide good quality living standards, prompted the increases.

Councillors will consider a rise in charges over a three-year period.

The new plans, if agreed by committee, will mean charges of £626 a week during 2008/09 – a rise of £46.

This will continue to go up over the next three years to £717.

The housing and social work committee will discuss the proposals on Thursday.
