Bathgate nursery told to make urgent improvements following inspection

A nursery in Bathgate must make urgent improvements in the care experienced by children, inspectors have said.

The Care Inspectorate has served a formal Improvement Notice on Little Owls Nursery following an inspection which raised concerns in six areas which require urgent improvement.

These include that the provider must ensure the service is well led and managed, and that children using the service, their parents and carers, have confidence that the people looking after them are trained, competent and skilled, are able to reflect on their practice and follow their professional and organisational codes.

They must ensure that staff have been appropriately and safely recruited and are registered with an appropriate professional body. The Improvement Notice also says every child’s health, welfare and safety needs must be assessed and recorded in their personal plan which must also set out how these needs will be met.

A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “The Improvement Notice we have issued clearly lays out the improvements we must see so that the care experienced by children improves quickly.

“We will visit this nursery again soon to check on progress and if we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action.”

The improvement notice is available here.
