East Lothian care home must make urgent improvements following inspection
A care home for older people in East Lothian has been told to make urgent improvements in the care experienced by vulnerable residents.
The Care Inspectorate has served a formal Improvement Notice on Drummohr Nursing Home in Musselburgh following an inspection which raised serious concerns.
The notice lists five areas which require urgent improvement including the quality of care and support; care of residents’ personal belongings; and the cleanliness of the environment in the home.
The Improvement Notice says management at the home must make sure residents consistently receive sufficient care and support to meet their health and personal care needs.
Residents’ needs must be clearly set out in care plans and management must ensure care plans contain enough detail to guide staff on good practice around personal hygiene, the prevention of pressure ulcers and nutrition.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “The Improvement Notice we have issued clearly lays out the improvements we must see so that the care experienced by residents improves quickly.
“We will visit this care home again soon to check on progress and if we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action.”
