Consultation begins on NI Social Work research

A consultation exercise on a Social Work Research Strategy for 2015-2020 has been launched by Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) and social workers are being asked for their input.  

Speaking in support of the strategy the HSCB Chief Executive, Valerie Watts said: “Our aim is to build an organisational culture that recognises and values the contribution of research and evidence and its integration at all levels of policy and commissioning and practice”.

The Director of Social Care and Children at the HSCB, Fionnuala McAndrew who is leading on the development of this work said: “We want to increase both the quantity and quality of research relevant to Northern Ireland to support the visibility of the social work profession and better outcomes for service users and carers”. She urged as wide a response to the strategy as possible.

A number of methods for feedback are provided.
