Registration update from Northern Ireland’s regulator

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) has issued a new contact number after having its new telephone system installed. It is 028 9536 2600.

However, the new system has led to some difficulty for workers looking to register or submit renewal applications. The online service for registration services will remain unvailable whilst additional system updates are completed.

This has led to some concerns over registrants being removed from the register for non-payment or for failing to renew their registration on time.

However, the NISCC have moved to extend the registration deadline and have assured anyone affected they will not be penalised.

An NISCC spokesman said: “We recognise that registration on the NISCC Social Care Register is an employment requirement for many of our registrants and that delays in maintaining their registration will be a concern.

“We can assure those registrants who have been affected by current service issues that they will be granted an additional 14 days to complete their renewal or payment as required.

“During this period, registrants will not be removed from the register for non-payment or for failing to renew registration without consultation to establish the circumstances relating to their situation.”
