New Cardiac/Renal Unit For Cork

Construction of a new €80million cardiac renal unit at the Cork University Hospital (CUH) has begun.

The new unit will have 141 inpatient beds, 35 renal dialysis places and 10 catheterisation laboratory recovery places. The new unit will expand and enhance the existing cardiac and renal services at CUH.

The construction should be complete within two years.

Tony McNamara, general manger, CUH Group said: “This unit will provide for the ever expanding need for these services in the region. The development was planned in co-operation with patient interest groups and will result in greatly enhanced care for all cardiac and renal patients who receive treatment in CUH.”
