Convicted sex offender missing from Lancashire care home

A convicted sex offender who has gone missing from a Lancaster care home should not be approached, police have warned.

Lancashire Police said 41-year-old Andrew Westbury could pose a risk to the public and people should contact officers immediately if they see him.

He was last seen on Monday at around 6pm at a care home on Westbourne Road, where he is residing voluntarily since being convicted of a sexual assault earlier this year.

Authorities said that he also suffers from mental illness and is at risk of “displaying violent or sexualised behaviour”.

He is not believed to have his medication with him and is described as white, of thin build, with short, grey hair.

He was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit top and grey tracksuit trousers.

Sergeant Stephen Craig said: “Mr Westbury (pictured) should have returned to the home at approximately 11pm last night but did not appear.

“He is mentally unwell and is at risk of displaying violent or sexualised behaviour.

“We are now appealing for help from the community in locating him. However, we would urge members of the public not to approach him.

“Anybody with information as to his whereabouts should contact us straight away.”

He also has links to the Ingleton, Dent and Bentham areas.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
