Barham care home destroyed by inferno

SIX fire crews rushed to Bridge House care home in Barham on today after a blaze tore through its roof.

Teams from Canterbury, Hythe, Wingham, Faversham and Whitstable attended plus support vehicles. Luckily all residents had left the building to attend day centres and no staff were injured.

The blaze was spotted just after 11.20am and took two hours to bring under control. An investigation is under way but the cause is not thought to be suspicious.

Bridge House was opened in 1994 and is home to eight people with moderate learning disabilities. Residents are encouraged to lead active lifestyles and are involved in all aspects of running the home., which is owned by Family Investment Homes.
