Dismal support for some multi disciplinary mental health social workers

BASW England’s Mental Health Group has produced a report on the experiences of social workers in multi disciplinary mental health teams, highlighting a mixed picture of support for practitioners, with those receiving excellent backing overshadowed by those getting nothing at all from their employers.

The report provides a background to multi disciplinary working and makes recommendations on the standards that should be in place to enable social workers to operate effectively.

The report and executive summary can be found on the BASW website under a new section entitled ‘England Policies’ [http://www.basw.co.uk/england/].

The executive summary has been sent to all Directors of Adult Social Services in England.
