Buyer found for threatened Much Wenlock care home

Hopes have been raised that a care home under threat of closure could remain open after a buyer came forward.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust, which runs the The Lady Forester Community Nursing Home, in Much Wenlock, had said it was consulting over closing it.

Care home operator English Care has expressed interest in taking over.

ExtraCare said it had accepted its bid on the basis the nursing home would ensure current residents homes are safe and the existing staff kept on.

David English, a director of English Care, said the company looked forward to meeting with all concerned.

Councillor David Turner, of Much Wenlock town council, which campaigned to keep the care home open, said the fact the care home will continue to run as a going concern was excellent news.
