BASW launches England-wide adult social work seminars

BASW England is holding a series of seminars across the country to address emerging concerns from social workers working in adult services. BASW England policy development officer Joe Godden said concerns centre on “cuts, reductions in qualified social worker numbers and a growing tendency for adult social work to be relegated in importance to children’s social work”.

Dates have already been confirmed for seminars at Manchester University (6 October) and London Metropolitan University (27 October). More will be confirmed soon for Thames Valle, Hertfordshire, the East Midlands, the West Midlands and the North East.

BASW England is still urgently seeking offers of venues and support for events in Yorkshire and the south west – possibly Bristol and a separate event in the Devon/Cornwall area. If any member thinks that they may be able to help – for example by offering a venue, offering to get involved in the organisation, or suggesting speakers – then please email [email protected]
