New carers centre opens in Enfield

A NEW modern carers centre has opened its doors in Enfield. The building, based in Baker Street, will provide a one-stop-shop for the estimated 29,000 unpaid carers in Enfield, and will be run by the carers themselves.

Officers from Enfield Council worked closely with carers and carers organisations to set up the centre, which will provide access to training and education, and act as a hub for socialising and support.

Councillor Don McGowan, cabinet member for older people and adult social services, said: “I am delighted to see this new centre open in the heart of Enfield as it is so important for carers to get together to support each other and share experiences.

“This building will be the flagship for caring in Enfield, and will provide support and encouragement for carers throughout the borough.

“This is the centre that carers have been asking for and have deserved for a long time.

“The service that carers provide is fundamental to our way of life and has far reaching benefits to everyone.”
