Evil Birmingham ‘carer’ mocks incontinent man

A CRUEL social worker who humiliated an incontinent disabled man with spiteful jibes and refused to help him when he wet himself has been struck off the social care register.

Angela Turner was care manager at the Elms Residential Unit, a Birmingham City Council-run care home for adults with learning difficulties.

At a hearing of the General Social Care Council, the committee heard Turner told the man: “My dogs are cleaner than you.”

She also swore at him and instructed her night time-staff to leave him to change his own clothes and bedding and to clean up after himself, tasks plainly beyond him.

The malicious manager removed his kettle too, a decision described as “unkind, unnecessary and certainly inappropriate”.

The committee also heard that she did not hold meetings, enforce the no smoking policy or carry out proper police checks on new employees.

In addition, she failed to adequately address an allegation of racism brought to her by a member of staff.

Turner did not attend the hearing, which heard evidence from her line manager Ron Atherton.

A spokesman for Birmingham City Council said they had already sacked Ms Turner as a result of their own inquiry.

The home, in Alwold Road, Weoley Castle, was closed in 2008.
