Doncaster inspection report due out on Monday

The Audit Commission is due to report the results on Monday of an inspection conducted in Doncaster in response to serious concerns over the council’s performance.

The commission announced plans to conduct a corporate governance inspection of the council in January. The decision followed a serious case review of two young brothers’ violent assault on two boys, which revealed serious failings by social care services and other partner agencies.

The report is expected to recommend that government intervention is needed to improve the performance of Doncaster Council.

In December last year, the council also scored one out of four in its annual Comprehensive Area Assessment.

The Corporate Governance Inspection Report, which also includes input from Ofsted, will be published on Monday (19 April) at midday.
