Caring careers event at Swindon Guildhall
A JOB Fair and information day aimed at those considering entering the caring profession will be held at the Guildhall on Friday.
The Careers in Care event, organised by Jobcentre Plus and the Wiltshire and Swindon Care Skills Partnership, will cover all aspects of working in the sector, from childcare, to caring for the elderly or those with disabilities.
Wallace Regelous, development worker with the skills partnership said: “Social Care as a career offers a rich and varied range of opportunities including domiciliary care, day care, residential care, live-in support and ways of supporting a person to remain at home.
“A career in social care opens the door to a range of different jobs including administrator, gardener, handy person, cook, carer, housekeeper, cleaner, social worker, trainer or manager.
“Social Care can be provided either directly or indirectly, but is always about supporting a ‘cared for’ person’s dignity, rights, respect and choices.
“Bringing our Care Ambassador project to Jobcentre Plus events can give potential joiners a deeply personal perspective of what a career in social care can involve.
“We are committed to building a clearer awareness about the social care sector and are looking forward to further opportunities to make this happen.”
There’s no need for an appointment on the day, just drop in to The Guildhall in Market Place at any time between 10.30am and 3pm.
