Suffolk Social Work Cuts ‘Put Children At Risk’

The head of children’s services in Suffolk has said vulnerable children are at greater risk because of overburdened social workers and high vacancy rates.

In a report to the county council, Rosalind Turner said £9.2m has been cut from the budget in the last three years and that further cuts are becoming “harder to find” without affecting services.

John Gregg, service director for children’s services at the council, said: “When there are fewer resources around what we have to do is focus those resources and target them on the most vulnerable children.”
