Former Care Home Nurse Is To Face Hearing

A nurse who worked at a Plympton care home for elderly and disabled people is to face a hearing for alleged misconduct.

Winifred Ruele Tlhobogang has been charged with failing to protect the welfare of a patient and falsely recording information while working at Merafield View Nursing Home.

The 61-year-old registered nurse, who is no longer at the private home, faces a Nursing and Midwifery Council conduct and competence hearing in London next Thursday and Friday at United Kingdom House in Oxford Street, London.

Merafield View, in Underlane, Plympton, is owned by Stagecare Ltd, according to the city council’s website, which says it is a “purpose-built, dual-registered nursing home” for elderly, terminally ill and physically disabled people.

A Merafield spokeswoman said it was not the company’s policy to comment about such cases, but confirmed that Ms Tlhobogang was no longer working at the home. She could not confirm when Ms Tlhobogang was employed there or when the alleged incidents took place.

Ray Veasey of the Commission for Social Care Inspection said he was not able to say when Ms Tlhobogang worked at the home but that Merafield has a good inspection record.
