Skills For Care Announce Care Accolades Shortlist

Thirty six of the most innovative and effective social care and training providers across England have won the chance to win a national award at the Skills for Care Accolades gala presentation evening.

The Skills for Care Accolades have been recognising excellence in social care training for the last five years and the three short-listed nominees in each of the twelve categories represent a wide variety of large and small social care organisations.

The nominees will find out if they’ve won a national award in their category at the Accolades gala presentation event at the Landmark Hotel, London on October 25th.

Skills for Care is the employer led authority on the training standards and development needs of nearly one million social care staff in England providing over £25 million in funding to support improved training and qualifications for managers and staff.

“There’s no doubt that the shortlist for the 2007 Accolades is the best yet and the judges had a very difficult task short-listing three nominees in each category from hundreds of strong entries,” says Skills for Care Chief Executive Officer Andrea Rowe.  “But I’m hugely impressed by the innovation shown by everyone on the shortlist which shows that the significant investment in training and development of the social care workforce is paying off.

“Skills for Care Accolades not only recognise the very best practice across England that we can share with more than 25,000 care establishments but show how the significant investment in improving training standards and access is having an impact.

“Skills for Care have always been about recognising excellence, adopting new ways of working or different approaches to training making sure the social care workforce is well trained to meet the challenges of an increasingly ageing population and the needs of the hugely diverse group of people who access care provision.

“It’s encouraging that all the organisations short-listed have made a real commitment to making sure social care providers and their staff can access high quality training that will directly improve the everyday lives of the people they work with.”
